They are smart, astute, and affectionate (in their own way). More and more people choose to welcome a cat into their homes. And they really are the perfect housemates… here are some of the reasons why.

Cats need less care than other pets. You don’t have to take them for a walk three times a day and they can spend most of the day alone at home. That doesn’t mean that you can’t enjoy an afternoon nap with them, or play time or just sitting and stroking your cat.

Cat owners know this and recommend them for a good night’s sleep. There is no better and more relaxing feeling than to hear your kitty purring at the foot of your bed on a winter night.

They are natural hunters and catch any insects that come into your home. Say “bye” to those pesky flies. As soon as they come in through the window your cat will be on the alert to catch them.

4. Owning a cat is relaxing.

Yes, relaxing. This is a scientifically proven fact. Their purring helps reduce stress levels and blood pressure.

5. They care for you when you are sick.

They may not be able to make you hot soup but they will be there right next to you. By your side during the worst times, giving you that warmth and silent company you need.

6. They are the best alarm clock.

You’ll never be late for work or school. When the sun comes up they know what that means: breakfast. And they won’t stop patting you with their little paws until you realise that too!

7. They encourage children to be more responsible.

Getting your children involved in caring for the pet cat helps them to take responsibility for tasks from an early age. Tasks such as changing its water, feeding or grooming a cat not only strengthen the relationship between them, but also help children to take on responsibilities.
